What’s New In the 2019 Mazda Lineup
Mazda lineup for 2019 includes six models till now that has largely remained unchanged from the last update done on 2018, though we are hearing rumors about some adjustments still being applied to some of them. But that doesn’t mean, there is nothing new in this lineup.
We can see the new SkyActiv-X technology making its appearance in this lineup that is known for blending the best of both worlds, i.e., the gasoline and the diesel. Using the mixture of dual fuel, among which one being extremely lean to be combusted by the system of compression while the other is made combustible through sparks that ignites the power stroke. While the former part helps in making the SkyActiv-X engine attain greater fuel efficiency, the latter is crafted specially to raise up the cylinder pressure much higher to make sure that the primary lean air and fuel mixture can combust well.
At the Gilbert Mazda, we had a brainstorming session predicting the changes what the year 2019 is going to bring for Mazda. And we came to a conclusion that apart from a leap in the horsepower to be seen in the Miata models, there will be few interesting aesthetic updates too that will surely spread across the entire lineup.
Role of the New SkyActiv-X Technology
As we already mentioned, the 2019 lineup of Mazda is going to feature the all-new SkyActiv-X engine technology that has revolutionized the concept of blending the benefits of gasoline with diesel. The aim behind this technology is to achieve a quick response from the throttle that was till now the sole property of the gasoline engines, but now will be blessed with the fuel efficiency of the diesel engines eventually raising the torque curve by its side.
With the introduction of this new SkyActiv-X technology, the engineers at Mazda are assuming that it will be able to make around 190 of horsepower with a minimum of 170 pound-feet of torque. As of now, this reading will be more than enough for compact cars like the 2019 Mazda 3.
To know how this new engine technology will perform in the long run, we have to wait for the year to pass.
Apart from the engine, the lineup of the 2019 Mazda will also look better than that of its earlier counterpart, as the experts of the Gilbert Mazda dealership speculate. With the MY 2019 resolution, both the CX-9 and Mazda 6 sedans will grow larger in size to match their naturally aspirated powertrain performance.
This new powerplant is expected to generate a substantial amount of horsepower, when it will be fitted into the 2019 Mazda 3, and the number Mazda is targeting at is about 250 for the horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque.
With the same engine, no doubt even the small CX-5 will also change into a stellar performer with its fuel-conserving 2.2L turbo-diesel option.
The Bottom Line
With all these extended and inspiring powertrain changes, the 2019 lineup of Mazda can be predicted much ahead to secure a place in the first row of the best-selling vehicles of the year that will have both SUVs and compact crossovers to showcase the world.
